Recently there was a piece of legislation that came before the city council about rental registration and inspection.
This ordinance would require inspections of all rental properties in Oshkosh, WI. Properties would be inspected once every five years, to make sure that they would meet the minimum standard of health codes.
“Several other cities are doing the same thing too,” Benjamin Stepanek, a city council member said.
The City Council passed the ordinance 6-1. The Winnebago County Apartment Association filed a law suit against the city claiming that the inspection program is un-constitutional and is wants the ordinance to be tossed out, but the legal battle currently is over whether or not the city can implement the ordinance since it was passed in session.
